A $500 reward is being offered for the conviction of whoever beat and tore out all the wing feathers of a goose living at a King County apartment complex – the third act of animal cruelty there in the last year, animal welfare workers said.

Neighbors told workers with animal sanctuary Pasado's Safe Haven that a goose – affectionately named Goose E. Goose – was held down at the Coronado Springs Apartments in the 1400 block of Southwest 107th Street, a Seattle mailing address.

The attacker kicked the 9-year-old goose, pinned it down and ripped out its feathers – something animal advocates say is comparable to human's having fingernails torn off.

A goose was decapitated and another killed at that complex earlier this year, Pasado's Safe Haven spokeswoman Amber Chenoweth said.

County animal control officers were noticed of the incidents, she said. Pasado's Safe Haven came forward Monday after a $500 reward was gathered to help solve the case.

"Seeing this repetition in deliberate cruelty to animals is very concerning," Chenoweth said. "It's concerning when someone who would do something like this is living in the community. Hopefully people will come forward."
